Hi all,
Yes, I am in Rondebosch, South Africa and already enjoying every minute. Let me give a quick recap on my transportation here:
I traveled for 27 hours straight to be here. INDàCPT.
IND à CDG: My first flight was absolutely wonderful except for a screaming child, but I have this wonderful skill called selective hearing, which allowed me to drown out the sound of her shrilling voice and sleep! How wonderful, right? (Not sure my parents appreciate that though…) I had a row of seats to myself, which allowed me to lay down on the plane, stretch out and use two pull down trays while I ate food. Every bit of extra space really spoiled me and comforted me all the way to Paris.
Layover: When I arrived Charles De Gaulle, I had exactly 59 minutes until my next flight departed. I arrived in M terminal and had to make it to L, which involved interpreting a flashing terminal monitor and jumping on a tram. Luckily, my French speaking/comprehension skills are still up to par, because when they started calling my name and saying, “Final Announcement for Departure,” I could understand that I needed to sprint to my gate.
CDG à CPT: My second flight had a weird, contemporary, chill vibe going on. It had sky lighting in a light pink and blue shades, which made it difficult to sleep. Along with the lighting, the chairs, pillows and blankets were all coordinating bright colors to match the interior of the plane. The entertainment center was great and had music, games, movies, etc…The only downside to the wonderful entertainment centers was that you had to push really hard for the screen to react to your finger. This meant that when the guy behind me decided to play Fruit Ninja, he had to stab the screen with his finger and moved my whole seat. His attention span was great too, because he played for at least 45 minutes. LONGEST HEADACHE EVER?! However, the person who sat next to me for the next 13 hours was great! She was a French nationalist living in Cape Town and gave me tons of information on the ‘hot places’ to go. She also offered me a ride to my hotel.
Arrival: The CPT airport was very simple to follow and leave. You just kept walking in a line, passed through immigration, pulled Rand from an ATM, and then picked up your baggage on the way out the door. It was almost TOO simple. I made it to my hotel within 50 minutes of landing and was immediately greeted by the information desk attendant. They helped me check in, get settled, and then sent me a complimentary meal to my room!
Not to mention my baggage was 63 pounds. YAY.
Until Next Time,
Jordan C.
